Raider is this mares barn name. Raider is a big strapping grullo quarter horse mare that stands at 15.3 hands and 1250 pounds. Raider is a silver toned grullo with minimal white markings, this mare also carries and displays the rare brindle gene. Raider has lots of dun factor and  frosting in her mane.
She puts her thick bone, huge hips, big chests and color on her foals.

Raider has a shy dispositon and it takes awhile to build her trust, she's a very gentle natured mare. She has an incredibly big hip and about the broadest chest I have ever seen on a mare, thick bone, correct leg conformation, good solid feet, a pretty neck with clean throat latch, awesome forearm, and lots of muscle.

Raider was trained under saddle as a 2 year but was added to the broodmare band after that, we ourselves have never put her back under saddle as she went directly into the broodmare band. Pictured below with her first foal a dun filly. Raider has a 2005 Silver Grullo Stud colt from our stallion Poco Annes Peppy.
*NOTE * This mare also carrys the Brindle gene which people are more familiar with in dog coat patterns. In horses this gene is very rare. This coat pattern can vary season to season, and is believed to be more visible as the horse matures. This mare currently displays brindling down her thighs, neck and cheeks. Quite visible on her hip shown above.

Raider is a big gentle giant of a mare, despite her mass she sits bottom of the pecking order in the herd. A very shy mare with quiet demeanor. Raider is proving to be a very protective dam as well.
Raider is nothing short of massive and has a chest that you would be hard pressed to find on a stallion let alone a mare. She has a big ol hip and forearm to match the rest of her mass as well. We are happy to see that not only is she passing on all her dun factor, color, but her mass to her foals as well.
