This young quarter horse mare is very solid built, with a full hip, short pasterns short back, and very thick bone. She is a third generation dunalino, carrying both the creme and dun gene she will be a 75% producer of dilutes. We gave this mare the barn name of Maggie. Maggie has a wide dorsal, ear tips, ear barring, face masking and slight leg barring for dun factor. Maggie is very level headed and quiet natured. We started this young mare under saddle on January 24, 2006 with only 3 days of ground work she has already had her first ride. She takes new things in stride and nothing much seems to rattle her. She has a big smooth trot to her. We will keep her in training until she is too heavy in foal, and then will let her be a mother for awhile before returning her to training. Maggie comes from some nice cutting and working cowhorse lines. Her sire is a money earner in NCHA, CCHA, and ACHA. She's also a Grandaughter of Doc's Hickory, Gr Grandaughter of Doc Bar, Colonel Freckles, Miss Chickasha , and Eileen Dee Bar. With other greats in her pedigree such as Chickasha Mike, Lightning Bar, Dandy Doll, Jewel's Leo Bars, and Doc's Dee Bar. She is sure to have lots of cow with her breeding. We will update with better photos of her in the spring when she sheds her winter gear. Pictured here as a young three year old.
This young mare is bred to a AQHA points earning sire who is a son of High Brow Cat, Grandson of High Brow Hickory, and a Gr Grandson of Doc's Hickory, Smart Little Lena, Peppy San and King Fritz with many more proven horses throughout his pedigree. Maggies first foal is the spitting image of her and also a dunalino. |

This mare was housed on pasture for the winter when we got her, and by our personal liking, lacking a little good feed. I am happy to say that after a couple of months of good feed she is looking pretty good and I could not be more pleased with this girl. We put several rides on her and she just has such an awesome disposition that she took every thing in stride, going from almost no handling to riding under saddle in just three days. What a super nice little mare she is. |
